Pewsey
Pewsey gained its Charter in 940 from King Alfred of Wessex. The town is famous for its annual carnival held for two weeks in September, it gained its connection to the Kennet & Avon Canal in 1810 and its railway station in 1862. The town is on the FGW London Paddington to South West main line, and links at Westbury with the remainder of the Wiltshire Trans Wilts Rail services. Marlborough is 7 miles to the north, so Pewsey is the closest station with low cost car parking for commuters to London and south Wiltshire. The station is close to the canal and a convenient access point for visitors to the Kennet & Avon Canal. The town's web site contains lots of useful information.
Local Market
There is a general market held on a Tuesday at the Bouverie Hall car park.
