Wiltshire is a fast-developing commercial area, including Swindon Borough which has previously been labelled as one of the most productive towns in the UK. The county's well-established industrial force is assisted by a number of large corporations that have created a wealth of career opportunities.

Wiltshire is bidding for a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) which will be based upon the County boundaries, excluding Swindon Borough, covering 0.5 million population and 21,300 businesses. It is private sector led and supported by Wiltshire Council and other key public sector organisations. The report includes the recognition of TWR as a strength on which to build a resilient Wiltshire "...we wish to see better use of our existing infrastructure - such as the implementation of the Trans-Wilts rail link."

Services

There is a comprehensive structure in place to support the Towns and City's in Wiltshire:

Swindon	Swindon is administered by the Borough of Swindon.
Chippenham	Based in the Town Hall, Chippenham Town Council provides town based amenities and facilities.
Melksham	Melksham Town Council provide a clear vision in terms of the towns offering to residents, commerce and industry.
Trowbridge	Trowbridge Town Council serves a population of over 30,000 and provides a wide range of services.
Westbury	Westbury Town Council provide support for highways, planning, development and general purposes.
Warminster	Warminster Town Council has 6 committees, which focus on Finance & Assets, Planning Advisory, HR, Town Development, Communications and CCTV.
Salisbury	Salisbury City Council operates and maintains various assets across the City.

There are many support organisations in Wiltshire that have been established to provide businesses with advice and guidance. One such organisation that is committed to represent the need of the business community is The Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce. The Association has 18 member Chambers representing over 1,100 businesses and organisations and is the second largest Chamber grouping in the South West.

There are also 5 colleges:

New Swindon College	A key academic provider of 'A' Levels and GCSEs for school leavers in the wider Swindon area.
Wiltshire College	Formed in 2000 Wiltshire College is the main provider of further education in the county. Wiltshire Enterprise is the business services division of the Wiltshire College and is one of the largest training providers in the South West.
Sarum College	An ecumenical study and research centre based in Salisbury.
Swindon College	A medium-sized general further education college that has key partnerships with University of Bath and Oxford Brookes University.
Urchfront Manor College	As part of Wiltshire Council, Urchfront Manor is an adult educational centre.
