Wiltshire is a fast-developing commercial area, including Swindon Borough which has previously been labelled as one of the most productive towns in the UK. The county's well-established industrial force is assisted by a number of large corporations that have created a wealth of career opportunities.
Wiltshire is bidding for a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) which will be based upon the County boundaries, excluding Swindon Borough, covering 0.5 million population and 21,300 businesses. It is private sector led and supported by Wiltshire Council and other key public sector organisations. The report includes the recognition of TWR as a strength on which to build a resilient Wiltshire "...we wish to see better use of our existing infrastructure - such as the implementation of the Trans-Wilts rail link."

There are many support organisations in Wiltshire that have been established to provide businesses with advice and guidance. One such organisation that is committed to represent the need of the business community is The Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce. The Association has 18 member Chambers representing over 1,100 businesses and organisations and is the second largest Chamber grouping in the South West.
