FAQ- " Ask Graham"

The Trans Wilts Community Rail Partnership know the answers to most Wiltshire Rail related questions. We will be building a series of FAQ answers here, which will be provided by Chairman Graham and his partnership members. They have the experience, knowledge and contacts to help you make your rail travel easier and best value for money, whether your travel plans are to, from, or within Wiltshire.
What is Plus Bus?
If starting or ending your journey in Swindon, Chippenham or Salisbury you can add unlimited bus travel in those towns to your rail ticket for just £2-£3 per day. Include it when you purchase your rail ticket, either on line or at the station. Full details are at the PlusBus site.
How can up to 10 people travel for the price of just 2 adult fares plus £4?
Use GroupSave tickets for offpeak travel! Three or four people (at least one adult) travel for the cost of 2 adult fares and can be accompanied by up to four children at a cost of just £1 each plus up to two children under 5 years can travel free. For example two families can travel together on a weekend or the grandparents can come along for free on an off-peak day out by using a GroupSave ticket. A GroupSave journey from Trowbridge to Weymouth return at the weekend would cost £35.20 or just £4.40 each for 8 travelling (correct at April 2010).
Can I take a cycle on the train?
Reservations are compulsory on High Speed trains on the London line to/from Paddington which have capacity for up to six cycles free of charge per train. On TWR services up to two cycles can be taken free of charge, without reservation but subject to space and acceptance by the conductor. Folding cycles can be carried without restriction (folded), but you may be asked to cover the cycle and put in the luggage rack and to fold before passing through any ticket barrier. You can park cycles at many stations including Chippenham, Trowbridge, Salisbury and Westbury. See our station pages for more detail.
